At the same time that policymakers consider everything from mortgage reform to regulatory restructuring to anti-predatory lending practices and credit card legislation, consumer confidence in the industry is at its lowest level in decades. FD Americas Public Affairs helps industry leaders address the lack of consumer confidence and enhance their positioning with policymakers.
Case Study:
The Credit Union Campaign for Consumer Choice, a national coalition designed to defend our nation’s credit unions and supported by the Credit Union National Association and the National Association of Federal Credit Unions retained FD Americas Public Affairs to garner public support for the Credit Union Membership Access Act after a Supreme Court decision denied millions of Americans the right to join federal credit unions. Our team developed and implemented a comprehensive and strategic grassroots plan to put pressure on Congress to support the Act. The campaign resulted in 2 million pro-credit union petitions signed, 100 pro-credit union editorials, a 6,000 person rally on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, organized with only five days lead time, and an extraordinary volume of mail and phone calls to Members of Congress. Ultimately, Congress voted almost unanimously to overturn the Supreme Court decision, and Members attributed the final vote to the outpour of grassroots support. |
